I have been working as a family law lawyer since 2009. From the very beginning of my career, I have been interested in providing legal guidance on intended parenthood and have continued to specialise in this area. I have realised that this specialism is truly where my heart lies. It is wonderful and special to be able to contribute to something so essential: having a child. In recent years, I have seen many babies born through my work. That is why I have chosen to focus on this wonderful subject with WENS Familierecht.
In my work, I mainly focus on surrogacy, same-sex parenting, donation and adoption. I guide prospective parents from start to finish on their journey to legal parenthood. This starts with advice prior to pregnancy or adoption. Together, we go through the legal steps and I draw up the contracts. I also have extensive experience with international surrogacy processes and regularly consult with lawyers abroad. In addition, as a lawyer, I will conduct the necessary proceedings in court to have legal parenthood recognised in the Netherlands. In the event of disputes, I can act as a mediator to help reach a satisfactory solution.
I am a committed and practical lawyer. This comes in handy when advising and guiding clients through the process.
In addition to my work as a lawyer, I enjoy being involved in this specialism in other ways. That is why I enjoy giving lectures and guest lectures on this subject. I have also published articles about my work as a lawyer in surrogacy cases. In addition, I am a member of the Family and Youth Law Advisory Committee of the Dutch Bar Association and a member of the Advisory Committee of the Artificial Insemination Donor Data Foundation. Finally, I am chair of the Dutch Rainbow Family Professionals Foundation (DuRF). Through this foundation, we promote the quality and expertise of our members in supporting rainbow families and other non-traditional forms of parenthood.
I live in Amsterdam with my husband and two sons.
